Castellón Gravel Race, the first UCI Gravel World Series of the 2025 calendar

The province of Castellón, and specifically Llucena, will be the stage for the first round of the UCI Gravel World Series of the 2025 season: The Castellón Gravel Race. The race, which will be held on February 15, 2025, rises to the top category of gravel. The Castellón Gravel Race, together with the Sea Otter, will be the only two UCI Gravel races to be held in Spain.

«The response to the first edition was incredible. People's feedback was very positive, everyone said that despite it being a very tough course they had really enjoyed it. And we said, why not try to enter the UCI Gravel World Series?»

The inscriptions will open on October 16, 2024, with a promotion of €25 for the first 48 hours, making this the most affordable event on the 2025 UCI Gravel calendar.

Last year the celebration took place first edition, which was also one of the tests of the Spanish Cup. Many well-known faces of Spanish cycling participated. Alejandro Valverde and Sofia Rodriguez took the victory. Other names such as Samuel Sánchez, Lucía González, Felipe Orts and Marta Torà were also present.

This year there are still many things to be confirmed, but it seems that many gravel riders will be attracted to participate. Both Spanish and international bikers. Regarding the route? At POLVU we have spoken with Pablo Pascual and Jose Cabedo, the minds behind this project. They have confirmed that it will probably be similar to last year's: "It is a very hard route, with a lot of unevenness, but it is very enjoyable, there are some spectacular landscapes" he said. Paul Pascual.

«It is not clear where gravel will go, it is a very new discipline that is growing very quickly. Being part of the UCI places Castellón as a leading event within the calendar.»
